An orifice meter with orifice diameter 10 cm is inserted in a pipe of 20 cm diameter. The pressure gauges fitted upstream and downstream of the orifice meter gives reading of 19.62 N/cm² and 9.81 N/cm² respectively. Co-efficient of discharge for the orifice meter is given as 0.6. Find the discharge (volume flow rate) of the water through the pipe. Take the density of water as 1000 kg/m².

Water is flowing through a pipe having a diameter of 300 mm and 200 mm at the bottom and the upper end, respectively, as shown in Figure 3. The intensity of pressure at the bottom end and the upper end are 24.525 N/cm2 and 9.81 N/cm2 , respectively. Determine the difference in datum head if the flow rate through the pipe is 40 L/s.
