This question is based on Pascal’s Law. It states that pressure at any point in a fluid is always same in all directions.
Now,
This question can be solved by using the following formula :-
Given,
Specific gravity of water (So) = 0.9
Height of oil ( Zo) = 40 m
Now,
Density of oil = Specific gravity of oil × density of water
=> 0.9 × 1000
=> 900 kg/m3
Intensity of pressure = Density of oil × g × height of oil
=> 900 × 9.8 × 40
=> 352800 N/m2
So, putting these values in above equation we get ,
