a)The resultant force in vertical direction then x component of the resultant force is zero. Fx = F1x+F2x+P Fx = −400cos(40)+200sin(40)+P P = 177.86 N b)The magnitude of resultant force in vertical direction: Fy = F1y+F2y Tu = −400cos(40)−200sin(40) Fy =−435 N(downward)
